Let go of Anger

Let go of Anger

Let go of Anger

Many of my  Life Coaching clients  have not learned the healthy way to Let go of Anger.  Instead, we swallow our anger or push it down.  Also, many of us fear displaying anger just in case it causes  more hassle or even danger towards yourself and your loved ones.  We don’t like to ‘ rock the boat’ or risk someone not liking us.

About Anger

In this blog post , we are going to give ourselves permission to get Angry and let go of anger in a healthy way.

Anger is actually a perfectly healthy emotion when used properly.

However, when we  store anger inside our body for long periods of time, it becomes toxic. Therefore, it is always   a sensible idea to let go of anger before it explodes in your body ( or you lose it with someone else!).  Let’s face it, certain people in our life have caused us much hurt, sadness and upset so why not get angry about it and let of some steam!  In letting go of anger, you will feel relief and also prevent unwanted dis-ease in your body.

Word of Warning

This  action step to let go of anger  should not be carried out while you have a house full of people or you are afraid of making rather a lot of noise. Choose a time where there is nobody around or make sure you have thick walls (or a thick skin).

Before we do this, head to your bedroom and pick out an old pillow. Also, if you have some music nearby, choose a very loud, powerful and angry song.

Action Step
Right, let’s get in the mood for ANGER. Sit down and ponder over the following questions:

• Think about all the times people have  let you down
• Think about all the times someone has really hurt you.
• Think about the times someone said something really unreasonable or hurtful

Right, are you starting to feel a little teeny bit annoyed now? Even if you don’t – just starting the exercise will begin to bring the anger up and out of your body SO trust me. We need to let it out anger!

Now, this is where the fun starts.

Continue thinking about all those times you have been manipulated, used, left confused, hurt and isolated. Now turn the music up LOUD and start whacking that pillow against your bed. No, not just gently…WHACK IT AND KEEP WHACKING IT. GO HARD!
WHACK IT EVEN IF YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT. EVEN IF YOU START TO THINK IT IS NOT WORKING FOR YOU – STILL WHACK IT. WHACK IT UNTIL YOU ARMS START TO ACHE AND KEEP ON GOING. WHACK AND KEEP ON WHACKING!!!!!

As you continue to let go of your stored  anger, other toxic angry emotions will start to pour out. If you cry – that’s fabulous! Let it all out! Hopefully, at the end of a good 5 minutes jolly good whacking you should feel a sense of relief in your body.

I know this may seem like a load of effort but this is such an effective way to let go of anger.  For the best results, commit to doing this at least once a week for a month.

Please, I know it can be difficult to find the time but it is so worth it. Even if you don’t feel angry, just do it anyway. Think of it as getting rid of all that yucky toxic stuff out of your body. You don’t want to carry around any of their stuff now do you?
